Abortion Pill Reversal

Are you experiencing regret after taking the first abortion pill? There may still be hope for continuing your pregnancy, but acting quickly is important.

What Is Abortion Pill Reversal?

Abortion pill reversal is an approach intended to counteract the effects of the first abortion medication, mifepristone.

Mifepristone terminates a pregnancy by blocking progesterone, a hormone needed to maintain a pregnancy. Abortion pill reversal involves taking progesterone in an attempt to counter the effects of mifepristone and support the continuation of the pregnancy.

Could Abortion Pill Reversal Be an Option for Me?

If you have taken the first abortion medication, mifepristone, but have not taken the second medication, misoprostol, you may be able to explore abortion pill reversal.

Progesterone treatment is generally considered most time-sensitive within the first 24–72 hours after taking mifepristone. If you have taken mifepristone within the past 72 hours and are having second thoughts, there is still hope for your pregnancy.

Is Abortion Pill Reversal Effective?

Abortion pill reversal has been shown to have a success rate as high as 68% when administered within 72 hours of taking the first pill. The sooner you start treatment, the better your chance of success.
